I hope you’ve been enjoying, and learning about the wonderful elements of birthstones in my previous reads thus far…please rest assure, there will be more to come. However, in this entry, I would like to pivot our exploration into the intriguing world of beadwork, in which we will be looking into beaded jewelry necklaces in particular. With that…please sit back, relax, and enjoy the read.
Options Used in Making Beaded Jewelry Necklaces
With there being so many options for materials used in the designing of beadwork; the possibilities are varied and available, according to the taste of the person purchasing. A few of those options include gold (metal), wood, and glass; which lend themselves to the making of original and incredibly dazzling beaded jewelry necklaces. Additionally, their versatility allow for a wonderful showing of personality and unique style. Moreover, depending on your desire, you can effortlessly feature beadwork with any type of look imagined.
You’ll find the care of these materials doable, and essential to maintaining the beautiful appearance of your beaded jewelry. I think of beadwork, simply, as exquisite pieces of art; and as such, the proper care of them yields to continued longevity and enjoyment for years to come.
Further, I immensely enjoy the different styles utilized in the creating of beaded jewelry necklaces; as each piece tells an interesting story, and is crafted in a way to make a person feel special and exclusive. Beadwork can be appealingly eccentric, and captivating charming at the same time. Not only making an outfit pop, but also enhancing the natural beauty of the wearer, as well. Now, that we’ve touched on beadwork, a bit; lets dive further into the three materials I mentioned above that are commonly used in creating beaded necklaces. Let us first start with gold beaded necklaces.
Gold Beaded Necklaces
Who can resist a beautiful gold beaded necklace? They’re remarkably timeless and go with absolutely everything! Additionally, there are differing types of gold such as: rose gold, yellow gold, and white gold (my personal favorite :>)). All of them are beautiful, and make elegant units of jewelry that are stunning and durable. (Quick note: It is believed that gold has been around since 40,000 B.C.) Also, its fun to mix and match the different types of gold for the versatility of wear. You can have fun with switching up the sizing, for sporting both short and longer lengths; enhancing both casual and dressier outfits. Gold beaded necklaces are easy and fun to wear, and are available in many styles and weight. For example, you can find gold necklaces in a multitude of beaded strands ranging from sleek, light-weight chokers, to more chunkier weighty beaded styles. The range of pricing for gold necklaces varies from very expensive to more affordable, depending on the karat (ie. 14kt,10kt etc.) quality of the metal. (Quick note: the lesser the karat, the more man-made the element). That being said; as there is a wide range of pricing, there are a number of quality pieces, including the more affordable option of gold-filled pieces. Although, not solid gold…such pieces do have a layer of gold that is bonded to another metal, making gold-filled pieces valuable assets, that are resistant to tarnish…and an overall great alternative to solid gold.
To aid with ensuring longevity of your gold beaded necklaces, you’ll want to be sure to keep them clean. You can do this by using warm water and a drop or two of dish washing liquid ( I personally use Dawn dishwashing liquid) along with utilizing a gentle brush for softly rubbing. It’s not advisable to wear your gold necklace in the shower or bath, exposing it to bath soaps; as the properties of bath soap tend to be harsh, and in time, could significantly wear down the finish of your gold necklace to a dull appearance.
Wood Beaded Necklaces
Wood is another great choice in material used to create beaded jewelry necklaces. Wood beaded necklaces are available in a plethora of styles, sizes, colors, and textures. They’re a natural eclectic display of patchwork art; from the many design options, to the varied wood options that are used in constructing them. These types of necklaces make great statement pieces, and can spark interesting conversation. Woodwork tend to not only be beautiful to look at, but are also interesting to learn about. For example knowing the types of wood that is use, and understanding the inspiration behind the design of the piece. Wood necklaces range in many looks from tribal to care-free natural; either way the options are endless for wear.
As shared above for gold beaded necklaces, maintaining upkeep of your beautiful wooden necklaces is equally important to long-lasting wear. I would suggest using a soft dry cloth for carefully rubbing clean your wooden necklaces. You’ll want to refrain from using water on wood, as in time (depending on the quality) your pieces may experience warping and dullness; which will simply ruin the finish of your wood beaded necklaces.
Glass Beaded Necklaces
Glass is also a great choice of material used to create beaded jewelry. The wearing of glass beaded necklaces are a fun and whimsical way of expressing your personal style. Glass necklaces come in array of styles, and colors, and ironically can last quite a long time. As it is intriguing to watch the making of glass jewelry; I highly recommend you take time to go to a glassblowing studio to view this fascinating process. As you may guess, I’m a real fan of glass jewelry. I remember the first piece of glass jewelry I purchased, in which I’m happy to report…it is still as beautiful and intact, as the day I purchased it. As glass beaded necklaces provide a relaxed way of wearing uniquely crafted pieces, and together with the many options of color and its durability, you should feel extremely comfortable including glass jewelry into your rotational pieces.
As shared above for both gold and wood beaded necklaces; keeping your glass beaded necklaces clean is a must and is quite doable, as well. For the cleaning of glass beaded necklaces, I would recommend utilizing a soft cloth, warm water, and a drop or two of dish washing liquid (remember I use Dawn dishwashing liquid). With that recommendation, the finish of your glass beaded necklaces should remain illuminating and exquisite for years to come.
The Wrap Up
Beaded necklaces are so fun to converse about, as they’re such a wonderful way of expressing oneself in a multitude of styles for easy paring with other pieces for effortlessly putting together any look. Beaded necklaces are simply a wonderful choice whether they’re made of gold, wood, and/or glass to incorporate into your wardrobe. So if you do not already wear beaded jewelry, I would suggest you should…and begin to relish in the compliments you receive.
